“Online Marketing” and “Speed” Are Key to Drivers’ Career Changes: What Triggers a Job Change and What Job Services Do They Use?

Press Release June 16, 2025

The logistics and transportation industry continues to face a serious challenge with a growing shortage of drivers. Many hiring managers are likely struggling with how to successfully recruit drivers for their companies.

Awesome Agent Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Izumi, Higashi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi, Representative Director: Haruhisa Daita) has conducted a user survey through “Dorapita” (https://dorapita.com/), a specialized recruitment website focused on the transportation and logistics industry operated by the company. The survey targeted users of Dorapita and gathered a wide range of real feedback from job seekers, from their preferred job types and motivations for changing jobs to the factors they consider most important when searching for opportunities. We are pleased to share the findings of the survey.

In this survey, responses were collected from a total of 91 Dorapita users ranging in age from their 20s to over 60. Notably, more than half of the responses came from users in their 40s and 50s, indicating strong engagement from this demographic group.

Age Distribution of Survey Respondents

■Key Findings

・Over 30% of respondents are seeking positions as heavy or medium-duty truck drivers.
・Dissatisfaction with their current jobs, particularly regarding compensation, work environment, and human relationships, is a major trigger for changing jobs.
・Nearly 70% of users secure a new position within three months of starting their job search.
・The majority rely on the internet as their main tool for searching and applying for jobs.
・When choosing a job search service, users prioritize the “number of job listings” and “how well the postings match their preferences.”

Over 30% of Job Seekers Aim for Heavy and Medium Truck Driver Roles

Preferred Job Types in Current Job Search

The most sought-after position among users was heavy truck driver (16.4%), closely followed by medium truck driver (15.4%). This reflects the high number of experienced professionals within the Dorapita user base, whose preferences strongly align with their licenses and career backgrounds. Additionally, specialized vehicle roles—such as arm roll trucks, packer trucks, tankers, and unic trucks—account for 2–3% each, indicating that job seekers with specific expertise are applying with clear objectives in mind.

Dissatisfaction with Working Conditions, Work Environment, and Relationships Drives Job Changes

Reasons for Starting a Job Search

The most common reason cited was “to increase salary and improve conditions” (37%), clearly indicating that dissatisfaction with income is the primary motivation for job hunting. This was followed by “working hours and work environment” (25%) and “human relationships” (16%), suggesting that dissatisfaction with working conditions, environment, and interpersonal relations is the main driver behind career changes.

Interviews with users also revealed frequent concerns about human relationships. Some expressed that, although the work may be tough, they are willing to persevere if the salary is satisfactory. This highlights that many job seekers place great importance on balancing job content with income.

Over 60% Secure New Jobs Within Three Months

Time from Starting Job Search to Securing a New Job

The largest group of job seekers (37.4%) made their job change decision within one month, indicating a tendency toward rapid decision-making. Including those who decided within three months, approximately 70% of respondents complete their job search within a relatively short period. These findings suggest that employers should implement a speedy recruitment process and encourage early applications when posting job listings.

■Internet-Based Job Search and Applications Dominate the Market

Services and Methods Considered When Searching for a New Job

The most commonly considered service is search-based job searching websites, which are favored by a wide range of job seekers due to their ease of use and strong search functionality. Additionally, the combined consideration of search-based job searching websites and comprehensive web job portals accounts for over 40%, highlighting the predominance of internet-based job searching and application styles. Furthermore, driver-specific job searching websites rank third. Dorapita operates as a driver-specialized job searching website while also allowing exposure on search-based job search websites, enabling it to reach users across both platforms.

Job Seekers Prioritize “Number of Listings” and “Job Match” When Choosing Job Services

Key Factors in Choosing Job Search Services

The most important factors in selecting a job search service are the number of job listings and how well they match the user’s desired conditions. This reflects job seekers’ desire for an efficient and satisfying job-hunting experience. In addition, aspects such as ease of application and clarity of information are also highly valued, indicating that intuitive UI/UX design and comprehensive job details directly influence a user’s willingness to engage with the platform. User interviews also revealed strong demand for distance-based search functionality, with remarks such as, “I want to search within 15 to 20 km—even if it crosses city borders, proximity matters,” and “I’d like to see on a map how far each workplace is from my home.”

What Did You Like About Using Dorapita?

A survey on user experience with Dorapita revealed high satisfaction with the platform’s ability to deliver job listings that match users’ preferences, the level of detail in job descriptions, and the ease of searching. These results suggest that Dorapita’s industry-specific focus and user-centric information design contribute significantly to improving the accuracy of job matching.

Dorapita continues to enhance usability through ongoing improvements to UI design, search functionality, and the implementation of features such as saving search conditions. These efforts reflect the platform’s commitment to becoming a go-to job searching website for job seekers.

Insights into Job Change Motivations and Work Selection Values from User Interviews

In addition to the survey, interviews were conducted with 10 job seekers working in the transportation and logistics industry to explore their reasons for changing jobs and the key factors they consider when searching for work.

《Main Reasons for Deciding to Change Jobs》
・Although the job listing stated “No experience required,” in reality, candidates were expected to be immediately productive.
・During the interview, applicants were told, “We will provide thorough training,” but after joining, they were largely left on their own.
・The assigned trainer had a harsh attitude, causing daily mental stress.
・Fatigue from workplace relationships led to a desire to change jobs.
・The company where they worked went bankrupt, forcing them to seek new employment.

Among these, many respondents cited the gap between explanations given at the interview and the actual conditions after joining as a major reason for changing jobs.

《Key Factors When Choosing a Job》
・The commuting distance limit is about 15 to 20 kilometers. A round trip taking more than two hours is hard to manage.
・Even if the job crosses city boundaries, locations that are close by are acceptable.
・It is difficult to continue working if the take-home pay does not match the long working hours.
・Many are willing to endure tough conditions as long as the salary is satisfactory.
・Jobs that can be done independently are preferred because they feel easier and more comfortable.
・Working without being troubled by interpersonal relationships is highly valued.

The interview responses also suggest that job seekers place great importance on whether there is a gap between the information provided beforehand and the actual working conditions upon joining, as well as whether the job aligns with their desired working conditions when searching for a new position.

Survey Summary

The survey revealed that job seekers tend to use the internet actively when dissatisfied with their current jobs, and they often consider and decide on new positions within a short period. Furthermore, user interviews indicated that job seekers place great importance on whether there is a gap between the information provided beforehand and the actual working conditions, as well as whether the new job matches their desired conditions. As a specialized job searching website focused on the transportation and logistics industry, Dorapita is committed to meeting these needs by improving the accuracy of job information, enhancing search functionality, and expanding features that increase user convenience. Going forward, Dorapita aims to further improve the quality of talent matching within the transportation and logistics industry, providing a highly convenient service for both companies and job seekers, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the entire industry.
